Weekend Bets
Today we'll be looking at value bets for the weekend from the Premier League.
Wolves v Liverpool
Wolves currently sit in 19th position with a decent home record (5-2-4, 15/15). Liverpool currently sit in 13th position with a poor away record (1-2-8, 8/21). 5 points separates the teams.
Dave Edwards and Sylvain Ebanks-Blake are missing for Wolves this weekend, whilst Jamie Carragher, Milan Jovanovic and Steven Gerrard will be missing for Liverpool. These two teams played three weeks ago and Wolves beat Liverpool at Anfield to secure their only away win of the season and Wolves played on Wednesday and demolished Doncaster 5-0 at home. Wolves also beat Chelsea at home two weeks ago, so they should be feeling pretty good about their chances in this game.
Liverpool have lost all of their last five away games and this shouldn't be any different. This is also a good opportunity to back both teams to score; Wolves have scored in ten home games and conceeded in nine, whilst Liverpool have scored in seven away games and conceeded in nine.
Tip: Wolves or draw @ 1.65, both teams to score @ 1.85
Aston Villa v Manchester City
Aston Villa currently sit in 17th position with a decent home record (4-4-3, 15/13). Manchester City currently sit in 2nd position with a good away record (6-3-2, 19/9). 23 points separates the two teams.
Aston Villa bought Darren Bent this week for £24 million, whilst they look just about ready to ship Stephen Ireland off to Newcastle. New signing Edin Dzeko made his debut last week and looks set to make a return to the starting team after being ineligible to play in the midweek FA Cup match.
Manchester City beat Villa 4-0 at Eastlands less than a month ago. Aston Villa have also only won one of their last five games at home, whilst Manchester City won three and drew two of their last five away games. Aston Villa have drawn two and lost three of their games against top six teams, while Manchester City have won three and lost one against teams in the bottom six.
Tip: Manchester City to win @ 2.15
Blackburn v West Bromwich
Blackburn currently sit in 11th position with a good home record (5-3-3, 15/10) while West Brom sit in 14th position with a poor away record (2-2-7, 13/24). 3 points separates the teams.
Blackburn beat West Brom at West Brom just under a month ago 3-1. Blackburn and West Brom have almost complete squads to choose from. Blackburns home record against the middle eight teams is decent (2-0-1) while West Broms away record against the middle eight teams is poor (1-0-3). Blackburn has won three of their last five home matches while West Brom had lost four of their last five away. West Brom has failed to keep any clean sheets on their travels this season, so expect a Blackburn win here.
Tip: Blackburn to win @ 2.15
Other value bets this weekend include;
Bolton or draw @ 2.25 (English Premier League)
Napoli to win @ 1.9 (Italian Serie A)
Athletic Bilbao to win @ 1.65 (Spanish La Liga)
Hannover to win @ 3.0 (German Bundesliga)

Cup Games
Today we'll be looking at Cup games from Europe.
French Cup
Auxerre v Marseille
Auxerre currently sit in 14th position in Ligue 1 with a fairly poor home record (2-6-2, 13/12). Marseille are currently 5th in ligue 1 with a decent away record (3-4-3, 13/10). While this may seem like quite a large gap, there is only eight points separating the teams.
Just over a month ago, these teams faced off in the same fixture at Auxerre with the result finishing 1-1. In that match Auxerre had quite a lengthy injury list to key players whilst Marseille fielded a full strength team. Auxerres last two home games have ended in draws and Marseilles last two away games have also ended in draws. Auxerre record against the top six teams at home indicates a decent draw bias (1-1-0) and Marseilles record against the middle eight teams away has a strong draw bias (1-4-0). Also, considering Auxerre has nine home games scoring a goal and nine home games conceding a goal and Marseille has had eight away games scoring and seven away games conceding, both teams to score looks a good bet.
Tip: Draw @ 3.0, Both teams to score @ 1.89 (Betfair)
Italian Cup
Sampdoria v Udinese
Sampdoria are currently 9th in Serie A with a decent home record (4-4-1, 11/5). Udinese are currently 8th in Serie A with a slightly poor away record (3-2-5, 16/18). 4 points separates the teams.
These two teams played back in September when Udinese were already looking like relegation candidates and an uninspired 0-0 draw wasn't what Sampdoria fans were expecting. Udinese have since become much stronger, especially at home, lifting themselves into contention for a spot in Europe next season. Sampdoria has also lost Antonio Cassano to AC Milan, although they have supplemented that by taking Federico Macheda on loan from Manchester United.
Sampdoria have won their last two home games, including a 2-1 win over Roma at the two weeks ago. Udinese managed a 4-4 draw against AC Milan at the San Siro that same weekend and then followed that up by beating Genoa at Genoa 4-2 last weekend. Sampdorias home record has a slight draw bias against the middle eight teams (1-2-0) whilst Udineses record is evenly distributed when playing away against the middle eight teams (1-1-1). Whilst these games are notoriously difficult to predict (in my opinion anyway) and although Udinese has quite a decent attack, the fact that Sampdoria have kept five clean sheets in nine games at home in Serie A says they should have enough to halt Udinese.
Tip: Sampdoria to win @ 2.35
Roma v Lazio
Roma are currently 4th in Serie A with a very good home record (7-2-0, 17/7) whilst Lazio are currently 3rd with a decent away record (4-2-3, 8/7). 2 points separates these teams.
Roma and Lazio is a derby game for those who don't know.. and im sure most will know that these are especially hard to pick. Roma are ranked 1st in home team performance so far this season whilst Lazio are ranked 5th away. Roma are missing their first choice keeper, Julio Sergio, and their first choice centre back, Philippe Mexes, for this game. Lazio also have injury problems with Giuseppe Biava and Javier Garrido both out.
Roma have won their last five home games, although two of those games came against teams in the bottom three. Lazio have drawn or lost their last four away games, which includes a loss against 17th placed Cesena. Roma have scored in eight of their nine home matches in Serie A this season and although it is a derby and anything could happen, I should think Roma would see this one through.
Tip: Roma to win @ 1.9
Other good bets include:
Barcelona to win halftime/fulltime @ 2.2 (Betfair)
Real Madrid to win @ 1.7
French Cup
Auxerre v Marseille

FA Cup
Todays tips will be based on the FA Cup replays.
Cardiff v Stoke
Cardiff are currently sitting in 3rd place in the Championship with a good home record (7-3-2, 20/10). Stoke are sitting in 8th in the Premier League, though they have a fairly poor away record (3-1-6, 12/14). However, these losses include games against Chelsea (pre-meltdown) and Manchester United.
Last game at Stoke ended 1-1, although Stoke looked the more dominant team and should have put the game to bed. Stoke have an almost full strength side to choose from and with Cardiffs two most attacking players (Bothroyd and Bellamy) likely to be out, this looks like a Stoke victory. This also looks to be a low scoring affair.
Tip: Stoke to win @ 2.45, Under 2.5 goals @ 1.75
Manchester City v Leicester
Manchester City are currently sitting 2nd in the Premier League with a good home record (7-3-2, 18/10). Leicester are currently sitting 13th in the Championship and have a poor away record (3-2-9, 15/31).
Manchester City drew 2-2 at Leicester 2 weeks ago in what was a fairly surprise result, although it must be added that Leicester have a good home record. Manchester City are missing Balotelli, Richards and Dzeko for this game. However, with the array of attacking talent at Manchester City, expect a high scoring affair.
Tip: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.55
Wolverhampton v Doncaster
Wolves are currently sitting 19th in the Premier League with a decent home record (5-2-4, 15/15). Doncaster are currently sitting 15th in the Championship with a poor away record (3-3-6, 18/27).
The original fixture at Doncaster ended 2-2 in a highly entertaining match. Although the possession was fairly even, Wolves created more and better chances using a 5 man midfield. Wolves have a great never say die attitude that has served them well and nearly garnered points from Manchester United (twice) and Manchester City, as well as taking all 3 from Chelsea. You would also expect alot of goals given the total goals per game average for both teams is very high (Wolves @ home; 2.72 goals/game, Doncaster @ away; 3.75 goals/game).
Tip: Wolverhampton to win @ 1.67, Over 2.5 goals @ 1.75
Leeds v Arsenal
Leeds are currently 5th in the Championship with a good home record (7-3-4, 29/24). Arsenal are currently 3rd in the Premier League with a good away record (7-3-2, 23/11).
Are leeds the giant killers? After beating Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford last season in the FA Cup, they very nearly repeated an upset last week at the Emirates. Arsenal lacked an end product even though they dominated the game and it took just one long ball to expose Arsenals defensive frailties. However, expect Arsenal to put in a better performance this time round.
Tip: Arsenal to win @ 1.57, Arsenal to win at halftime @ 2.1, Arsenal to win at halftime/fulltime @ 2.4
